چکیده

Physiology in microgravity is a challenging field of research because of limited resources. Though humans have been in space for 50 years most meaningful data has been collected only within the last 15 years. While expensive studies with small sample sizes make obtaining and interpreting data difficult, some general conclusions about the human physiological response to microgravity can be drawn. A redistribution of bodily fluids is believed to initiate change in cardiovascular and respiratory function. The mechanisms for these changes have been studied very little are not well understood. Long term effects of microgravity on the body have been impossible to study in the past. Larger studies must be done for increased time periods in order to better characterize the underlying physiological mechanisms involved in the body’s response to

پاسخ انقباضی آئورت سینه‌ای به بی‌وزنی پاهای عقبی در موش صحرایی

Background: Hindlimb Unloading (HLU) is used to simulate microgravity in rats and has been shown to decrease contractile response in the abdominal aorta. The aim of present study was to investigate the contractile responses of smooth muscle of thoracic aorta following acute and chronic microgravity treatment.  Methods: Male adult rats (Wistar) were subjected to HLU for 3 and 20 days t...

CD44 expression changes and increased apoptosis in MCF-7 cell line of breast cancer in simulated microgravity condition

Introduction: Studies have shown that simulated microgravity (SMG) affects tumor cell proliferation and metastasis. However, the underlying mechanism and its molecular basis are still not well known. In recent years, due to the role of CD44 in breast cancer and its high expression in invasive basal tumors, it has been the subject of extensive research. There is a conflicting data on the role of...

کاهش بیان ژن‌های Tie1 و VCAM-1 در شرایط بی‌وزنی: استراتژی جدید برای مطالعه و درمان بیماری تصلب‌شرائین

Introduction: VCAM-1 and Tie1 are endothelial molecule and receptor, respectively that may participate in atherosclerosis disease. Endothelial cells are very sensitive to mechanical forces, including microgravity and the morphological and functional changes in this condition. To examine the effect of gravity on atherosclerosis disease, we analyzed the expression of VCAM-1 and Tie1 genes in micr...

Expression pattern of neurotrophins and their receptors during neuronal differentiation of adipose-derived stem cells in simulated microgravity condition

Objective(s): Studies have confirmed that microgravity, as a mechanical factor, influences both differentiation and function of mesenchymal stem cells. Here we investigated the effects of simulated microgravity on neural differentiation of human adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs). Materials and Methods:We have used a fast rotating clinostat (clinorotation) to simulate microgravity condition. R...

The Role of Microgravity in Cancer: A Dual-edge Sword

Since human beings could travel beyond the earth atmosphere, scientists started to investigate the effect of microgravity on human cells. Microgravity has different effects on normal and cancer cells, but the related mechanisms are not well-known till now. The aim of the present review is to focus on the consequences of exposing the cancer cells to reduced gravity. Some cancer cells organize th...
